During 2003 / 2004 I tried to have Summerwind in charter. Somehow this failed totally (see extra story) and when I was on the boat in April 2004 it was in pitiful condition. I spend some time bringing the boat back in shape but in 2004 time was a rare asset. Some friends helped me and looking back we had a good summer and I especially enjoyed every time coming back to Palma de Majorca. More and more I start to like La Ciudad. Eastern 2004 I spend a week with my friend Wolfgang and despite the fact that it was pretty cold that time we had a nice week on the still resting island at this time of the year. In general I can only recommend those of you who like Majorca to go there off season, especially for sailing. You will find a much different, more relaxed and peaceful place and you will almost have the feeling that you belong to the family. 4 weeks later Michael and family visit us for a week. And in summer I made a 3 weeks tour with Jogi and Reinhard were we spend remarkable time in Ibiza again. The tour was carefully planned to happen during the European Football Championship but in reality we watched muss less football then planned. Unforgettable - England France and we couldn't force our self to leave the boat moored in St. Antonio.
Zinedine Zidane scored a majestic free-kick and a penalty in injury
time to secure holders France a stunning victory over England in Group B. We watched all that and the performance of German Referee Markus Merk via binoculars and judging the situation by which crowd was screaming louder, happier, angrier, the France or the British. No need to talk about the German performance - we never played a lousier tournament and consequently our coach Rudi Voeller stepped down as manager of the national team. Anyhow, the summer trip became known as Whispering Wind
(Balearic's 04) because it was a pure vacation tour without any sailing ambition. The theme (Cafe de Mare Volume Siete [Composer Moby]) - was often played during 3
beautiful weeks full of sun in front of wonderful mystic Ibiza cost line. Wind -
when there was Wind than only "whispering".
Trip starts in front of the stunning cathedral of Palma
I have a think going for heated up city's, temperatures went up to 40 degrees this summer
Reinhard: "mi mojito en la Bedeguita y mi daiquiri en El Floridita" - in search for la Bodega del Media in Palmas Llotja-Quarter. If you ever spend an evening in Palma this is a must, Mochito, Cohiba and Cuban Music.
Next to us - fisherman's wedding. Isn't that be nice. This guys know how to set priorities - one hand for the boat and one for your girl
That's the good think of not having any plans - stop at anchorage Palma Nova, just 5 miles later. Formula one and football required this stop and English breakfirst at 17.00 together plus some beer help to keep the day healthy. Yes, they are nice the restaurants in Palma Nova. If you doubt that Jamie Oliver is British, here you find all the evidents you need. British and cooking - not in Palma Nova mate. So why we went there - I told you, pup food, beer, sun, chicks - we love it
P.S.: For the yachtsmen - the appearance is deceiving - usually thermal wind goods stronger in the early morning and the anchor ground is slippery. Lot's of drifting boats and better be sure you have enough chain with your anchor
Anchorage at St. Antonio - packed but most of the time safe and quit. We prefer to anchor a little bit away from the city but in Dingy ride distance to Cafe Del Mar. I prefer St. Antonio over Ibiza town (which is much more beautiful without doubt) because some very nice beaches are near and every place is within reach. We spend a whole day stocking up the boat to welcome Juergen (mainly with beer by the way) joining us - but an add hock party destroyed the work of a complete day in the very same night. When Juergen was there I was the first time in my live at a techno party in one of the known clubs (You have to try everything at least once) - was a Sunday because I remember the theme: Judgment Sunday. It was surprisingly nice just I was too exhausted from the night before. So I was really happy when leaving the next day for some time on the water
Magic Ibiza - by the way the thing on top of the boat is not a bug - It's Jogi imitating Borat.
... thinking of all the good time that we wasted ... wasting good time. On the approach to Las Salinas again the one perfect beach in Ibiza … chill out (live) music and party, nice people during day and quit and natural at night. We love it ! Beside, this time BK (oh sorry, BK = Bier King what is the title for the team member drinking most beer and when Jogi is on board there is no question ... besides, the 2 British Girls drunk more but girls can't be king by sex, right? By the way, I do not participate when skippering - don't drink and drive - no kidding - but afterwards ... you bet) and I invited our self to a wedding party some crazy British had at one of the restaurants. Still don’t know the happy couple but if they make our anchorage miserable with load music we can drink there bier … fair enough, don't you think. Best man … nice speech
... tradition since some years, we play the game … it’s called: THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE … the not the one ONE is THE MAN - Wolfman. This time I had a good summer in chess but there will be other summers

"Right out of hell, I saw it!" (Commodore Decker describing the Killer Planet - The Doomsday Machine, Star Trek). Speed ferry between Formenter and ibiza. Specially when approaching Ibiza town there can be remarkable swell
Book of the trip: A small death in Lisbon from Robert Wilson ... not easy to read and even more hard swallow but in the end you get a fantastic story combing the world war times with nowadays, being thriller and drama in one and introducing fantastic interesting characters. Robert Wilson is one of my favorite authors after this book.
"Where were you last night?" That's so long ago I don't remember. "Will I see you tonight?" I never make plans that far ahead."
